MEV Free Legal Clinic

The Mesereau-Ephriam-Villaraigosa (MEV) Free Legal Clinic

is a non-profit program of the Brookins Community Development Corporation. The clinic was founded in 2006 by Rev. Dr. Frederick O. Murph and Attorney Thomas A. Mesereau.

Founders of the MEV Free Legal Clinic

Named for Attorney Mesereau, Judge Mablean Ephriam, and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, the clinic offers free legal advice in family law, personal injury, civil, criminal, trusts and wills, bankruptcy and real estate. Several well-known, qualified attorneys participate and additional staffing is provided through partnerships with the law schools at Loyola University and the University of Southern California. Also, community forums are presented to inform and educate our community about issues that impact their daily lives.

Presentations have been made by noted leaders in the legal field such as Harvard University’s Dr. Charles Ogletree, Loyola Marymount Professor Laurie Levinson, Celebrity Attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, and CNN Legal Analyst Trent Copeland. Other experts have led forums on the latest Medicare changes, divorce and legal separation proceedings, winning in small claims court, and advantages of reverse mortgages.
